PHA’s Non-Profit Corporation

PCOC-LogoThe Providence Community Opportunity Corporation, the PHA’s non-profit affiliate, was established to provide and maintain high standards of living through programs and services that promote self-sufficiency, economic independence and educational opportunities, as well as to enhance and enrich the quality of life for the public housing and Section 8 residents of the PHA. The PCOC has an eight member board and actively seeks grants and contributions each year to ensure the existence of programs and services for PHA residents. The PHA collects funds for the PCOC through employee contributions and eligible, non-profit grant funds.

Recent PCOC programs that promote healthy and safe living while nourishing a sense of community include:

  • Annual Elderly and Disabled Fire Safety and Prevention Training
  • Annual Family Fire Safety and Prevention Training
  • Transportation Services to Medical Appointments for Uninsured Residents
  • “Get Connected” Program’s Dexter Manor Computer Lab
  • Seatbelt Safety Education Campaign “Protect Providence with One Click”
  • Youth Safe Haven and Police Mini-station Youth Program
  • Youth Police Initiative Program
