Section 3

Section 3 is designed to ensure that Housing Authorities have a policy in place that ensures employment and other economic opportunities are, to the greatest extent feasible, made available to low income people, especially those residing in public housing. The Section 3 program requires that the Providence Housing Authority (PHA) provide job training, employment, and contract opportunities for Section 3 eligible persons in connection with projects and activities at its properties.  Further, it is the policy of the PHA to prioritize Section 3 eligible persons and businesses in contracts partially or wholly funded with monies from HUD.  If you are a recipient of government assistance for housing or if your household income falls below HUD’s income limits, you may qualify as a Section 3 resident or Section 3 business concern.
