Public Housing Admissions

The Providence Housing Authority manages 2,606 units of public housing throughout the City of Providence.  There are three types of housing offered within the program:

Family Developments     |     Elderly and Disabled Developments    |     Elderly Only Developments

Elderly/Disabled Developments

Individuals who are between 50 to 61 years of age, and are neither disabled nor handicapped are eligible for a studio only. Individuals who are 62 years of age or older and/or disabled are eligible for a studio; they may opt for a one bedroom unit. Individuals who are elderly (62 years of age or older) and/or disabled/handicapped, and living with a spouse or a significant other are eligible for a one bedroom unit.

 

Family Developments

Individuals who are elderly (62 years of age or older) and/or disabled, and living with a minor child or two minor children of the same sex, are eligible for a two bedroom unit. Applicants who are a single head of household and/or living with a significant other who are not elderly (62 years of age or older) and/or disabled/handicapped are eligible for a one bedroom unit. Families are eligible for all family developments. Bedroom size is determined by family composition. Applicants must be 18 years of age in order to apply.
